The Maya were an ancient people who lived in what are now parts of Mexico, Honduras, and El Salvador. One of the most advanced civilizations in the Americas belonged to the Maya people, who were expert farmers, traders, and artisans. Between 300 and 900 AD, when they reached the height of their civilization, they produced a complex writing system as well as highly advanced architectural and artistic skills.

A Rich Diverse Culture of the Maya people, Chichen Itza, Mexico

The Maya developed sophisticated cities that included pyramids, palaces, and temples. Their civilization was divided into city-states, each of which had a ruler. The Maya were accomplished mathematicians and astronomers who created a calendar that was more precise than the one being used in Europe at the time.

We visited and toured the magnificent ancient Mexican Mayan city of Chichén Itzá, is one of “The New 7 Wonders of the World”, located in Tinúm Municipality, Yucatán State, Mexico. The stepped pyramids, temples, columned arcades, and other stone structures of Chichén Itzá were sacred to the Maya and a sophisticated urban center of their empire from A.D. 750 to 1200.

For reasons that are still not entirely clear, the Maya civilization started to decline in the tenth century. The Maya civilization may have come to an end as a result of internal strife or the failure of the Maya political and economic systems, according to some historians, while others speculate that it may have happened as a result of environmental factors like soil erosion or drought. The Maya people and their descendants are still present in Central America, where their rich cultural traditions, which include their art, language, and religious practices, have left a lasting impression.

All things considered, Mexico has a rich and varied culture that is reflected in its art, music, dance, and cuisine and is a crucial component of the nation's identity.
